- 7TH MCN CONFERENCE KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED
-
- The Macintosh Consultants Network today announced the Keynote Speakers for the
- MCN’s Seventh International Consultants Conference, which will be held November
- 7-10, 1991, at the Seattle Airport Marriott Hotel. The title of the conference
- is “New Systems / New Solutions -- System 7: Making It All Work Together,” and
- the conference will focus on communications between programs, platforms, and
- people.
-
- The Keynote Speakers will include Christopher Espinosa, Marketing Manager for
- Macintosh System Software in Apple USA’s Product Marketing Group, James F.
- Young, Assistant to the Chairman of Electronic Data Systems, and President of
- MacIS, and Mike J. Maples, Microsoft’s Vice President of the Applications
- Software Division.
-
- Espinosa, as Marketing Manager for Macintosh System Software, is a key player
- in the adoption of System 7, the focus of MCN’s Fall conference. Prior to his
- current position, Espinosa was instrumental in forming Apple’s Open
- Architecture System Integration Strategy (OASIS). Before that, Espinosa was
- responsible for product management of HyperCard software and A/UX, Apple’s
- version of the UNIX operating system.
-
- Young, an early advocate of the Mac within EDS, the largest systems integrator
- in the world with over 65,000 employees, has headed MacIS (Managing Apple
- Computers in Information Systems) since its inception, leading it to become an
- important influencer of Apple’s direction over the last few years. MacIS
- members are directly responsible for the management of over 200,000
- Macintoshes. Young will be speaking about the recent efforts some states have
- made to require licensing of computer programmers, which would affect computer
- consultants directly.
-
- Maples is responsible for the development and marketing of Microsoft’s
- application software business, and has over 26 years experience in the computer
- industry. Microsoft’s market-leading application software provides the basis
- for the work of many Mac consultants, and the adoption of System 7 capabilities
- in those applications will provide many future opportunities as well.
- The Macintosh Consultants Network is the premier professional association for
- consultants working with the Apple Macintosh platform, with over 190
- consultant members from around the world.
-
- The MCN’s offices are located at 3600 Sisk Road, Suite 3D, Modesto, CA
